1: Get Started with Online Application Assistance

Application assistance services can simplify the process for many DMV related services for a fee, including: renewing your license, applying for a license, registering a vehicle, replacing your license, changing your address and more. In addition to assistance in preparing official forms, the value added services and products you will receive include a comprehensive Easy Guide™ containing information relevant to your service needs; 30 days of both emergency Roadside Assistance and the Repair Assist consultation service from Road America. Other benefits include an ongoing monthly newsletter and a quarterly magazine covering important updates that affect drivers, important safety tips, trends, legislative updates and ways to save money on vehicle-related services.

2: By mail

Some drivers prefer to handle the renewal process by mail, rather than taking advantage of assistance services, visiting the DMV in person, or via available online services. Service by mail is available with limitations. Read below for additional details or visit your local DMV.

3: Via a DMV office

If your specific needs require an in-person visit, most, if not all, driver license services can be handled at your local DMV office. Varying DMV offices sometimes supply different types of services so you will need to check before your visit to make sure the DMV closest to you provides the service you require. In addition, you can call to see if your DMV allows you to make a personal appointment.

The process to complete a Colorado drivers license change of address does not need to be done in person. If a driver wishes to complete a change of address it can be done online. The forms needed for a Colorado change of address can be downloaded, printed, and then filled out. If the driver does not wish to process their address change online, they can do this at the local DMV office.

Three Ways To Complete A Change Of Address Online:

A driver can simply complete the Colorado drivers license change of address online.

On the Colorado state government website, there is a link that will bring the individual to the correct form. Once the change of address has been completed, the driver can simply affix an address label with the correct address onto the back of their license.

To change your drivers license address in Colorado a driver does not have access to the Internet, they can complete this process at any driver's license office in the state. An individual can just tell the office that they wish to update their drivers license address, and the state employee will give them the correct form to do so. Form DR2285 is the correct form for a driver's license address change.

By mail:

Some individuals may wish to mail in a change of address form. To get this form, a driver can either stop into a Colorado DMV drivers license office, or they can print the Colorado drivers license change of address form online. Then they must fill out the form completely and mail it to the DMV office. Alternatively, they can drop it off at the office in person.

Regardless of the method chosen to process a change of address on a Colorado license, there is no need to purchase a new document. Colorado does not require a driver to have their new address actually printed on their card after completing a change of address. By affixing an address label to the back of their card, other people can see that this individual has processed a change of address.

Colorado Change of Address and Name Change Must Be Done Separately

Please note that this information does not apply if an individual wishes to process both a change of address and a name change. A name change is an entirely separate process, and cannot be done in conjunction with a Colorado drivers license change of address. Also, a driver must have all of the necessary name change documents done before attempting to complete a name change on Colorado drivers license. A Colorado change of address by itself does not need any specific documents to complete, and it is free to do.
